- Topic: The Rising Tide of Food Allergies: Are You Ready?
- Time: 3:45pm
- CPE Level: 2

- Speakers: Marion Groetch, Lynn Christie
- Recent epidemiologic studies indicate that food allergies are on the rise and are more persistent. Registered dietitians are increasingly encountering patients and families in need of food allergy expertise, and therefore should be trained to assist the physician in identifying the potential dietary allergen, develop elimination diets, and ensure the diet is nutritionally complete. Confines of the allergen-restricted diet and diagnostic food challenges will be discussed.
- Topic: New Frontiers in IBS and IBD Management
- Time: 6:00pm
- CPE Level: 2
- CPE Credits: 1.5
- Speakers: Lee Richman, Jan Patenaude
- IBS and IBD are inflammatory GI disorders that are often refractory to conventional pharmaceutical and nutritional therapies. A growing body of research has shown that in many cases diet plays a pro-inflammatory role. With the physician, the registered dietitian can be a key member of the health care team to promote better understanding and properly address this role to effect improvements in patient care and outcomes, thus benefiting the entire health care system.
